Plain Markdown converts pages to Markdown locally in your browser. We do not transmit your page content or edits to external servers.
Data collection
We do not collect any data. Plain Markdown:
- Does not require an account or login
- Does not send your page content or saved drafts to external servers
- Does not use analytics or tracking
- Does not use cookies
What the extension accesses
- Website content: reads the current page or selected text when you click the extension.
- Page metadata: URL/canonical URL and title are used for draft association and filename context.
- No history permission: Plain Markdown does not request browser history access.
Local storage
Drafts are stored locally in extension storage and never leave your device.
- Saved per page and restored when you reopen the extension
- Can be cleared by clicking the refresh button or by uninstalling
Permissions
- activeTab: access current page only when you click the extension
- scripting: inject content script on demand to extract content and open floating editor
- storage: persist local drafts
Third parties
Plain Markdown does not share page content or drafts with third parties.
